The PrEP Program Group Class

Our Group Class is the innovative hallmark of The PrEP Program, setting us apart from other programs. This class is uniquely designed to combine the benefits of both group instruction and small group mentorship, creating an effective and supportive learning environment for students.

  • This is our most affordable coaching session. Each class has a lead teacher. In addition, your child will be assigned a mentor and will work closely with their mentor in small break-out rooms in groups of 2 to 3 students.

  • Classes meet two or four times a week depending on your child's needs.

  • Your child is expected to complete most if not all of their school assignments during class and develop a homework plan for days they don't have class.

The PrEP Program: Ivy League mentors & licensed psychologists providing expert executive functioning, ADHD/ADD coaching & tutoring. Non-medicated solutions with proven results in improving student grades within two weeks.

How Does It Work?

The PrEP Program merge structured learning and personalized mentoring into an enriching, interactive, and rewarding experience. Here's a walk-through of our unique approach:

Coach Assignment: Our coaches are either highly experienced teachers or outstanding students from top-tier universities. They are matched with your child based on the specific academic support needed, ensuring that the mentor can efficiently assist in your child's weaker subjects.

Mini Lessons: The coach presents a mini-lesson on an executive functioning (EF) skill at the beginning of every lesson, such as time management, study skills, or organizational skills. We cover a complete set of EF skills in our comprehensive 30 lessons curriculum.

Homework Planning: After the lesson, our coach assist the student in planning and managing their homework assignments. This involves determining due dates, setting a behavior plan, and helping your child prioritize tasks based on difficulty, quantity, and level of support needed.

Homework Assistance: If your child faces difficulties with any assignment, the coach provides necessary guidance and assistance, ensuring the child comprehends and successfully completes their work. Students are expected to finish most, if not all, homework within the session.

Reward System: For every piece of assignment completed, your child earns PrEP Points. These points can be accumulated and redeemed for rewards in the PrEP Shop, adding a fun and motivational aspect to the learning process.

Teacher Communication: The coach also aids in maintaining effective communication with your child's school teachers. They assist your child in checking their online school accounts, understanding teachers' feedback, and asking questions or clarifications from their teachers, when necessary.

Mentorship and Relationship Building: After completing assignments, your child has the opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations with their coach. These discussions can cover a range of topics, from friendships and school clubs to class level selection. This time is a crucial part of our program as it fosters a personal connection and builds a mentorship bond that goes beyond academics, supporting your child's overall development and well-being.

Lucas' Experience
A Day in the PrEP Group Class

Class Check-In

Lucas logs into the virtual classroom and is greeted warmly by his homeroom teacher. He sees familiar faces says hi. There's an air of friendly chatter as the teacher guides them through an ice-breaker activity.

Mini Lesson on EF Skills

Today's topic is Time Management. Lucas listens attentively as the teacher shares different strategies, like making a daily schedule and setting realistic goals. Then, he gets to create his own schedule based on this semester's classes. He's challenged but enjoys planning out his day using the techniques he just learned.

Breakout Rooms

When it's time to split up into breakout rooms, Lucas finds himself with two other classmates, guided by their mentor, Jenny, who's currently studying at Brown University. Lucas feels comfortable because he knows Jenny very well as they have been meeting twice a week this semester.

Homework Planning

In their smaller group, Jenny helps Lucas and his peers review their homework assignments. Together, they prioritize tasks based on difficulty and due dates. Jenny sets a behavior plan for Lucas, encouraging him to focus and reminding him of the PrEP Points he could earn.

Homework Assistance

Jenny is there as Lucas works on his homework. She assists him when he stumbles on a math problem and encourages him when he crafts an insightful paragraph for his English assignment. Every time Lucas completes a task, he's awarded PrEP Points - it's like a small victory each time.

Academic Record Monitoring

After his homework, Lucas logs into his online school account and share it with Jenny. They go through teacher feedback together, and Lucas learns how to respond appropriately to his English teacher's notes on his essay. This check makes Lucas feel confident that he's on top of his schoolwork.

Mentorship and Relationship Building

The last part of the session is Lucas' favorite. He talks with Jenny about his day, his friends, and the book club he's thinking about joining. Jenny listens, provides advice when needed, and always encourages Lucas to pursue his interests. By the time the session ends, Lucas feels like he's accomplished a lot, and he's already looking forward to the next one.

This is a typical day in the life of a PrEP Program student, like Lucas. It's an enriching, supportive, and engaging environment where students not only learn important executive functioning skills but also build rewarding connections and gain a sense of accomplishment.
